This will allow students to learn what is most relevant to the exam they'll be taking. Students studying the Advanced and Extension English courses will workshop with Jacques McElhone, 4th in NSW in 2007 for English Extension 2, for a full three hours. At the same time, students studying Standard English will workshop with Marianne Fidel, 5th in NSW for Standard English in 2007. Both sessions will include a "dry run" using an actual 2007 HSC exam or trial exam. Jacques and Marianne will each go through their respective exams, discussing what went through their heads as they read each question, and revealing their approaches to writing answers. You'll literally be able to get inside their heads, and see how they think through constructing essays. The second half of this session will be an opportunity to ask the English gurus all of your questions about class time, homework, preparing for the exams, taking the exams, and more. Meanwhile, Maths and Maths Extension 1 students will do the same with Kaivan Vaidya, 10th in NSW for 2005 Mathematics, 99 for 2006 Mathematics Extension 1, 99 for 2006 Mathematics Extension 1, 99 for 2006 Mathematics Extension 2 and UAI 100. Kaivan will coach attendees through both courses, with an emphasis on the different types off questions that can be expected, and strategies for answering them all. General Maths, often left out of other HSC holiday workshops, is included, so you can make it one of your good subjects.
